Baby shower

It was a perfectly beautiful summer afternoon for a baby shower, I haven't had one of these for either of my other boys but thought it would be a fun way to get all my friends together for a garden party.
I was thinking more of doing it a few weeks after the baby was born to introduce him to everyone but because it's Christmas it just wouldn't have been possible with all that's going on this time of year.

To eat we did up a big fruit platter with all the seasonal fruits including mango's....mmmm, had a cashew bowl, Shane tried, and succeeded, at some homemade hummus to go with the Lebanese bread and the highlight was the chocolate fountain Mum borrowed from one of her clients. For dipping was marshmallows, cappuccino wafers, and fruit....absolutely decadent!

We played a few games for the sake of it, one being "pass the baby" in this case pass the huge "Bob the builder" doll we have and when the music stops the one holding it gives be a piece of baby advice. I enjoyed it but I hope it wasn't too cheesy (?). Then came the gifts which had been piled into the baby bed we had put on display. I got some really lovely newborn outfits and cuddle blankets. Anaik got me a big "De-stress box" full of useful magazines and an assortment of chocolates. The instruction card read:

"When mothering three gets to you
Lock yourself in the bathroom for a minute or two
Open a mag and have a quick read
Unwrap a chocolate
-it's just what you need
Then emerge quite refreshed and ready to rock
After an escape with your de-stress box!"

I was really touched by everyones thoughtfulness! I also got some gift cards for various department stores which I'm most grateful for.....those are so handy when you need something down the line. Thank you all for making it a special day to celebrate the arrival of my baby boy!
